  • Fall pictures will be on Thursday, September 3rd. Please send tennis shoes with your child, if they don't wear them to school.
  • Parent/Teacher conferences will be on September 28. Students will not attend on this day.

Monday- Lesson 1.5-Use and understand the additive identity property. (6+0=6)
Tuesday- Lesson 1.6- Explore the commutative property. (Turn around facts 2+3 is the same as 3+2)
Wednesday- Breaking apart small numbers.
Thursday- Introduce rekenreks/ Teach addition game
Friday-Review addition properties/ Play addition game with partners.

  • Our Thanksgiving holiday will be November 26-28.
  • I will be sending home a few Thanksgiving songs to practice at home. We will be performing these on stage in the cafeteria either November 24th or 25th. I'm not exactly sure of the time and date yet, but I will let you know when I do. 
  • Our class will be performing at the PTO meeting on November 18. Please try to attend. Your child will get to sing on stage!

Announcements:

  • The 50th day of school will be October 28th. We will dress in 50's attire on this day to celebrate!
  • Please check your Red Ribbon Week note for daily themes. 
  • Please remember to try to do math homework on the day of or after I have taught the lesson. This will really help when doing math homework. 
  • If you would like to send Halloween treats or candy on Friday that is fine with me. We won't be having a party, but I do have some fun things planned. Also, the students are NOT allowed to wear costumes on Friday.

  • We will completing our common core unit, "Alphabet Books and the Children who Read Them."
  • We will also be doing some apple activities this week in class. If you could send an apple of your child's choice this week, that would be great!

Wednesday-Lesson 2.6- Model and compare groups to show meaning of subtraction.
Thursday- Comparing to understand the meaning of subtraction. Play the Different Game.
Friday- Take Mid-Chapter Quiz

Be sure to check your child's folder each night for reading homework.
